Understanding Home Health Aide Services

If your loved one is elderly or disabled and in need of assistance in order to remain in the home, perhaps it is time to consider home health aide services. Here are a few things to know about what home health aide services are, and what they can do for you.

A home health aide in New Jersey must complete a 76-hour nurse-supervised training program in order to be qualified to offer more highly specialized care than a home maker or companion does. Home health aides are able to provide services such as bathing, grooming, or dressing. Additional services provided by a home health aide may include running errands and accompanying the client on appointments with the client's car, light housekeeping, laundry, medication reminders, and the provision of meals. Home health aides can be available on an hourly basis or even on a live-in basis, depending on the needs of the client.

At Garden State Eldercare, we not only provide home health aide services, but complete geriatric care management that includes an assessment with the client's family and physician in order to fully understand the client's needs and to form a comprehensive care plan including the scheduling of home health aide services. Caregivers are trained and supervised by a Registered Nurse, must pass a criminal background check, undergo competency testing and routine drug testing, and must meet other requirements to ensure that our clients get the best care possible.
